Programs & services
The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging recognizes the gap in digital services for many of Ventura County’s older adults and individuals living with a disability. For that reason, the VCAAA has established a variety of programs directed at bridging the digital gap and making digital devices and services more accessible to those who need them most.
GetSetUp
The VCAAA and GetSetUp have partnered to help older adults in Ventura County bridge the digital divide and combat social isolation through live interactive learning opportunities.
GetSetUp offers live interactive learning experiences that range from everyday technical skills to enrichment-focused courses including healthy cooking, virtual travel, and more. All learning opportunities are taught live by experts who are older adults themselves.
Through GetSetUp’s custom-built video learning interface, older adults can easily connect with a safe community of more than four million peers globally at the click of a button. Participants have access to 24/7 classes from the comfort and safety of their homes.

VC Connects
The County of Ventura announced the launch of VC Connects in the summer of 2021. VC Connects is a program designed to bridge the digital gap for older adults and people with disabilities living in Ventura County, bringing computers to the homes of individuals who do not otherwise have access to a digital device.
VC Connects offers individuals 18 and older access to computer kits that can be checked out at any of the 12 Ventura County Library locations or the Mobile Library. Internet enabled hotspots and technical support are also available. The program is offered through a collaborative effort between the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, the County of Ventura Information and Technology Department, and the Ventura County Library.
VC Connects allows users to complete any online task, including video chats with friends, family members, and doctors. The program, including internet enabled hotspots, is provided at no charge, however an active Ventura County Library card is required. Library cards may be acquired at any Ventura County Library location.
In addition to the computer kits, VC Connects offers thoroughly vetted tips and resources through www.vcconnects.org. The website was designed to address many of the questions and concerns that arise when using a digital device.
